Sharmila Khare

In 1995, Ms. Khare was recruited to the Federal Public Service through the Accelerated Economist Training Program. She joined the Department of Finance in 1997, spending time as Advisor to the Executive Director at the World Bank in Washington, D.C. She joined the CRA in May 2015 and on May 16, 2022 was appointed Director General, Charities Directorate. Sharmila holds a Combined Honours B.A. in Mathematics and Economics from Glendon College and a M.A. in Economics from McMaster University.

She obtained her law degree in Ukraine in 2012 and the Canadian law degree equivalent in Ontario in 2018, called to the Bar in 2019. Kateryna holds an LL.M. from the University of Toronto and an LL.M. in Taxation at Osgoode Hall Law School. She is passionate about representing clients and advocating for their rights throughout the tax dispute resolution process.
